About Me

My name is Reece Williams and I am a Level Designer at Third Kind Games. My time at university, in the industry and by doing game dev as a hobby has left me proficient in many different aspects of game development. Ranging from the design I do as a career, to also programming, 3D art and graphic design.

Despite games being my passion on a professional and personal level today, it was not always my choice of career. Indeed I didn't even initially go to university until I was a mature student as I didn't think someone of my social class belonged in such an environment, nor did I know game development was a legitimate career. An old friend suggested it as an option when they found out I was creating mods for fun. They sent me a link to a course that was taking in students for the following year and I never looked back since.

That's not where my passion for games began however, we would have to go back even further than I can remember to get to that stage. As early as 2 years old, my Dad would sit me on his lap and assign the attack button to the space bar when playing Star Wars: Dark Forces. He would of course be in charge of the other buttons. Needless to say at 2 years old I was not particularly great at resource management when it came to ammunition.

Games have been in my life for its entirety and I've played and enjoyed most genres. Shooter, Grand Strategy, Browser, Arcade, Racing, Sim, the list could go on. I find that this experience and interest in most genres not just from a gaming perspective, but also a programming perspective makes me a very versatile game designer.
